A wedge tail eagle, has landed on our habitat tree!
He is looking over the Bulleen Art & Garden from his perch.
Bunjil the eagle is important to the local Wurrundjeri people as the creator, and a spiritual leader. http://www.yarrahealing.catholic.edu.au/stories-voices/index.cfm?loadref=79 http://www.cv.vic.gov.au/stories/meerreeng-an-here-is-my-country/10676/bunjil-/
Our eagle was made by sculptor Joel Medley (more about Joel) and featured in his 2013 exhibition.
The Habitat Tree was first set up in 2008, to encourage people to plant to encourage local birds and animals in their gardens, and to appreciate those we find in our neighbouring bush. The tree originally grew in the western District on the family farm. It was populated by ceramic birds and animals were sculpted by Meredith Plain (more about Meredith).
