Helen Sparrow is an extremely talented and experienced potter. She has been working with clay for 44 years!
“I started potting when my youngest child was 17 months old. Course cost $2 a term and $1 a term for child care. When I moved to Melbourne I attended Potters cottage for 8 years. I mainly focused on functional ware. I finally got my own kiln and never looked back.
I was the Director of the Pottery at Mitcham Arts for 6 years. Then started at Eltham Living and Learning Centre. I taught there for 29 years. Teaching is very rewarding, showing people they are artistic. Great to see the confidence growing in students.
Over the past 4 years I have been making planters and some domestic ware. I am still striving to improve and develop even more.”
