“Naturally Inspired”

Sculpture by Melissa Thomas

  29 September to 30 October 2023

“Naturally Inspired” is an exhibition about the creativity that is found everywhere in nature. “I have made pieces of sculpture and art to complement the complexities of nature and the frugality of time in expressing my art work through metal and glass. Capturing a moment in time like a photo, but in a 3D form. This expresses the movement and emotion of a subject or an object in the landscape of nature.”

Melissa Thomas is a conceptual sculptor who lives and works in Melbourne Australia. She has been making Sculptures for over 25 years now. Predominately working with metal and glass, but she has also used other mediums. She is inspired by the natural world, so a lot of her work is the representation of animals and insects in their natural environment. Her experiences have lead to, commissions for the Royal Botanic Gardens, 15 topiary sculptures for the Melbourne Zoo and many other sculptures in public and private collections.  Also working with many Landscapers and creating pieces for the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Her work is varied and is always evolving, and some of the pieces are kinetic in nature

Melissa regularly sells her work and exhibits at Bulleen Art & Garden. Find out more about her at https://gallery.baag.com.au/portfolio/melissa-thomas/
