KATHY ALLAN
I have always enjoyed creating art in one form or another. Always up for the challenge of trying new styles and media, from eco dyeing to pottery to watercolour. For this exhibition I have used acrylics and pen work on canvas to create garden inspired works, featuring Australian natives.
My paintings come from my imagination. I work mainly with acrylics creating layers to invoke the illusion of weightlessness and movement. These layers inform the direction my painting will take.
I love doing the intricate pen work and watching the work evolve and always surprised by the finished artwork.
The introduction to painting began 3 years ago when I joined Nillumbik U3a. I have since become a tutor for beginner and intermediate art classes. These classes allow me to share ideas and be inspired by others in a space that both nurtures and expands my knowledge of my art practice.
I have exhibited and sold work at the following venues: Bridges Hurstbridge, Eltham Art Show, Streamline Publishing art space, Eltham Leisure Centre
