DESCRIPTION: March 14 – April 22\,  2025\nExhibition Opening 3-5 Sunday 16th March\n  \nBolin Bolin Gallery at Bulleen Art  & Garden \n6 Manningham Rd W.\, Bulleen. 88503030. \nwww.gallery.baag.com.au \nThree papermakers come together to celebrate nature and paper in it’s many forms. All have been making paper for many years and are still loving the process. \nMake sure you see this wonderful exhibition which showcases the many different ways hand made paper can be used to create art and craftworks. – everything from framed art\, books\, scrolls\, flowers\, cards\, bowls and even garden tools (no guarantees for their use though!). Creative\, unique and all beautifully crafted. \nAnne Gason works a lot with natural fibres including seaweed\, local grasses and other fibres. For this exhibition she plans to produce books\, lamps\, scrolls and three dimensional works. \nBarb Adams has been making paper for more than twenty years and uses recycling and plant fibres for her papermaking. For this exhibition she is planning to produce garden journals\, cast garden tools and artist books. \nGail Stiffe has been exploring papermaking and paper arts for over thirty years. SUMMARY:From the Ground Up – Sculpting with Recycled Materials
DESCRIPTION:From the Ground Up\n– Sculpting with Recycled Materials\n31st January to 11th March\nClaude Ciccone\nTh ne exhibition in the Bolin Bolin Gallery will feature intriguing sculptures made from recycled materials – usually old and unusual treasures by sculptor and painter Claude Ciccone. These sculptures have many stories to tell. \n“My sculptures are made entirely of recycled materials which include wood \, metal \, wire and what ever else I see fit to utilize. They range in size from 50cm across to 150cm across” \nClaude lives and now creates his artworks in his beloved home town studio situated in Lilydale\, a gateway to the amazingly beautiful Yarra Valley. Now an established\, professional and award winning artist\, in which his most recent was 2022 Tom Roberts Award\, Sherbrooke Artists Society for his painting of ‘YURI’ He has been painting and sculpting for over 30 years\, with extensive knowledge of colour\, form and perspective. Claude’s canvasses are filled with much love and passion and he studies his subjects with much dedication and conviction.\nClaude also holds oil painting workshops on a weekly basis\, he has been teaching for well over 10 years and he is always eager to pass on the knowledge of his craft to new and enthusiastic students.\nIn recent years Claude has added another dimension to his creativity in the form of building ship sculptures and marionettes constructed entirely out of recycled materials which are a visual and textural experience. His sculptures have been displayed in many galleries throughout Victoria with an overwhelming response from the many gallery visitors.\nHe has most recently staged a solo exhibition at the ‘Warburton Art Centre’ Warburton\, which was given positive reviews by local media.\nHe has held many solo exhibitions and group shows of his sculptures & paintings over the past two decades\, his work can also be found in numerous private collections around Australia. \n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Eastern Studio Potters and Artists \nJenny Stokes\, Robyn Carter\, Ann Jackson\, Sue Trevillian \,Donna Parker\,  Jenny John \, Wendy Swan\,  Di Beveridge\,  Glenys McDonnel\, Jan O’Neil\, Carol Downey. \n 2nd to 26th November 2024 \nThis group has been exhibiting at Bulleen Art & Garden for many years\, and some of them also sell work here on a regular basis. \nThe exhibition includes original and creative works by artists with a wealth of experience. There is a range of ceramic works – from functional studio ceramics to ceramic sculpture\, as well as paintings an even some textiles this time. \n“Working with clay is essentially a solitary pursuit. For this reason Eastern Studio Potters exists to provide connections between different potters. Members share knowledge and experience\, push the boundaries and ‘fire one another up’. Meetings\, workshops and shared exhibitions encourage and inspire members. This group was formed to provide this mutual support and inspiration many years ago when a group of potters had finished their studies. DESCRIPTION:Giuseppe Raneri and Pietro Giordano\n 28th September to 29th October \nExhibition Opening:5 to 7pm Thursday 3rd October 2024 \nThis new exhibition is a collaboration of two artists Giuseppe Raneri and Pietro Giordano who’ve known each other for a long time\, their friendship and appreciation for art has finally brought them together in this new exhibition. \nThe works include sculptures in wood and clay and paintings on board. This work is most suited to indoor use. \nGiuseppe Raneri\n \nI love art and its many manifestations that it can have\, it stimulates me\, spiritually\, intellectually and physically.\nMy approach to this new small body of work is striving towards simplicity\, and excited by its  immediacy.\nI’m enjoying working in different mediums\, drawing and sculpture both (clay and wood) and how the different materials can challenge the creative process. \nGiuseppe Raneri\, or Joe\, works at Bulleen Art & garden as his day job\, including working with art and pots\, but he is also a recognised original and gifted artist . \nHis main art focus has been in ceramic art and he had an exciting solo exhibition of his vibrant\, painted ceramics in the Bolin Bolin Gallery in 2023 https://gallery.baag.com.au/event/colours-of-the-sun-recent-works-by-giuseppe-raneri/ \nFor this year’s exhibition he has extended the range of his works with new media and new ideas. From the earthy raw landscapes of my birth place Sicily to the vast and natural Australian environment and diversity of its people.\nThe narrative for my current work comes from ideas and visions derived from the words Journey People\, Place and Time ” The se thoughts and images are real and unreal\, abstract and figurative\, past present and future. They may be tranquil or tempestuous\, light or dark\, timid or bold \, perfect or imperfect.\nThese abstract sculptures and paintings are depicting the strong connection between the human entity \, the diversity of the natural and urban landscapes and the effects of ti me . This fusion creates ever evolving and varied experiences that become part of a continuous journey. \nPietro’s sculptures in this exhibition are made from wood\, with interesting surface texture. \nBiography\nFrom a very early age I have had the desire to do all things creative and I was always allowed the opportunity to explore these wonderful pursuits.\nBorn 1961 in Sicily\, Italy which gave me an upbringing of Mediterranean vitality and creative culture. My family migrated to Tasmania in the late 60’s and then my journey had truly begun with a very different lifestyle and culture. I saw it as an opportunity to explore creative ideas with a total freedom of expression.\nFollowing my school years\, I decided to commit to study in art and completed a BFA Degree at the School of Art\, University of Tasmania. My subject areas involved Ceramic Sculpture\, Painting and Drawing.\nAfter my studies I moved to Melbourne to gain more exposure and work with various artists .On receiving a Grant from the Crafts Board\, Australia Council\, I completed a 18 month residency at the Meat Market Craft Centre in Melbourne . This culminated in my first solo exhibition at Devise Gallery which was complimented by then starting my own studio practice.\nOver the years I have continued to work in various mediums and exhibited in a number of group exhibitions in Melbourne and interstate. SUMMARY:CONNECTIONS
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n10th August to 24th September 2024\nExhibition Opening 3pm\, 10 August\nMeet the artists and enjoy the exhibition \nTwo local artists explore the idea of connection through clay and printmaking. Ceramicist Jo Davies and printmaker Kate Herd pay testimony to the interdependence of\, and within\, nature and community. The artists are neighbours and both enjoy a longstanding relationship with the Yarra River landscape. Observing the micro and macro\, human and non-human worlds in their river-side ‘backyard’ over an extended period\, they consider the necessity of co-dependent networks – both social and ecological – for the health of our existence. \nThe artists see gardens as a locus for nature and community; Gardens both wild and cultivated provide stimulus for their artistic practice. For Jo and Kate\, gardens are not just living places of refuge and regeneration\, but also philosophically significant and symbolically laden landscapes of the mind. The works on paper and ceramic vessels might variously respond to the morphology of flowers\, plants and wildlife\, or the colours of foliage\, fungi and seedpods\, interspecies relationships or perhaps simply the play of shadows on branches. \n \nIn the Bolin Bolin Gallery space\, Jo’s sumptuous ceramic forms complement Kate’s mostly black and white linocuts and ethereal etchings; With Kate’s images providing a graphic background to Jo’s richly-glazed organic bowls\, bottles and assemblages. The forms of these vessels take on personalities and embody observations made in nature. Placed together\, the small ceramic elements seemingly communicate with each other. When presented in groups the assemblages reconceptualize landscape and relationships. Nature; The light falling between trees; A family photo; Family; Table chatter; Connections and relationships –all fuel Jo’s creativity. \n \nKate’s works on paper – in the form of drawings\, papercuts and etchings – reflect her love of flora and fauna and passion for gardens and the Australian bush. Her prints often feature plants\, birds and animals and posit the garden as a site of delight and contemplation but also as a place where senescence and death might intrude. The interplay between human and non-human living things in Kate’s whimsical images is a means to explore the imaginative world of childhood\, often referencing the rich symbolism of fairy tales and folk art. \nKate Herd\n \n \nJo Davies
